SmartGardenWatering is still one of the projects that I'm most proud of.
My first ever Ruby on Rails app (started on 1.x, and no bundler! 😱), this project kicked off a career-spanning love of Ruby, and its community.
Commissioned by the Computer Science and Agricultural faculties at Melbourne University, SmartGardenWatering was an attempt to build a basic social network to encourage people to learn how to most effectively water their gardens, and how changing plants and watering techniques could save water.
Amazingly, after all these years it continues to work (although doesn't get much traffic), I still like to check in occasionally and tweak my gardens.
